In church we have been talking about the theology of death. It has been an interesting sermon series to say the least. The question posed today was, “What six words will describe you when you die?” Paul’s very well would have been “I have fought the good fight.”

I’ve been thinking on this all night. What six words would I like to be remember by? This is a huge task, because there are many things, but the question I’ve been posing before myself is not what words I want to be remember by, but what are those six words that I am remember by now. For without a doubt I would like the six words of my remembrance to be “Servant of Jesus even unto death.” These six words have huge implications that are frightening to me. Frightening because sometimes I am even unsure how to live this out to my fullest of abilities. I am a sinner at heart, who has been forgiven by the grace of God because he sent his son Jesus down to die for me. Yet I know that I want to continue to make my life less about me, and more about the love of Christ. I even toyed with another six words: “I’ve become less and Jesus more.” or even “I have replaced myself with Jesus.”

Still this undertaking is huge and the possibilities limitless. I will never know the future, but I do know that I can trust in Jesus Christ. I know this even though I find that my actions sometimes do not align, which of course bothers me because then I have put something before Christ. But that is not for this posting. Those are other thoughts.

So think on that what six words do you want to be remembered by?

For me, I want to be remembered for displaying the love of Christ to all.
